GALLERY VISIT: THE CENTRAL COLLECTIVE
DEC. 22, 2016
The Central Collective opened in 2015 as a mixed-use creative space for entrepreneurship, events and engagement with Knoxville’s creative community. As part of its mission to support art and artists, The Central Collective established a gallery for established and emerging artists in and beyond Knoxville.
Halitide (12/2-7/16) was an immersive, time-based multimedia installation that interrogated perceptions of time, material, and the human intellect. Using sound, kinetic sculpture, and projection, the installation sought to expose flaws in these perceptions, and called forth an alternative presence in the absence of understanding.
Joshua Shorey and Chris Spurgin are MFA candidates at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
