NEWS: LOCATE ARTS AND SEED SPACE JOIN FORCES

MAR. 30, 2017

Carolyn Jobe and Brian R. Jobe have been named the new Co-Executive Directors of NCAP (Nashville Cultural Arts Project), the organization that houses Seed Space. Locate Arts, founded by the Jobes, will now be part of NCAP programming. Seed Space and Locate Arts have been allies in the common pursuit of activating cutting edge contemporary art, and, through this merger, they create a more substantial contemporary art organization that serves all of Tennessee.

The Jobes are excited to continue the momentum of Locate Arts fused with the innovative legacy of Seed Space. They will push boundaries as the visual art community in Tennessee continues its significant growth. NCAP will now have more resources to promote the best contemporary art Tennessee has to offer, while bringing in leading exhibitions and voices from out of state.

The expanded contemporary visual arts organization will house the following programs:

(1) Web resource for Tennessee contemporary art (locatearts.org)

(2) Statewide contemporary art biennial exhibition (date: TBA)

(3) Seed Space, a Nashville gallery focused on contemporary sculpture, installation & media-based art

(4) Insight? Outta Site!, a speaking series that brings in arts professionals to Nashville for public conversation

(5) A social practice program including the Wedgewood-Houston Magnet initiative

Future program planning is well underway and we are thrilled to announce some of our confirmed exhibitions and speakers. Artists awarded solo exhibitions at Seed Space in the next 12 months include: Demetrius Oliver (New York, NY), Abigail Lucien (Knoxville, TN), Sage Dawson (St. Louis, MO), and Richie Budd (Fort Worth, TX). Upcoming speakers for the Insight? Outta Site! series include Ben Davis (Art Critic, New York, NY) and Lauren Haynes (Curator, Contemporary Art, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR).
