JONATHON STRUBE: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Slocumb Galleries (ETSU) / 232 Sherrod Dr., Johnson City, TN January 16 - February 9th
Jonathon Strube
ETSU Department of Art& Design and Slocumb Galleries present What Does It Mean by Jonathon Stube with closing reception and gallery talk on February 8, Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
What Does It Mean is an exhibition of typographic digital work that "visualizes and organizes the artists' reflections—moments codified by words and pieced into a tapestry of material consciousness," that arise from the artist's positionality— his primary roles as man, son, husband, and father.
The works in white font are printed on matte black paper, the randomness of content and starkness in presentation reflect their truth. They do not intend to present an aesthetic allure. Rhetorical reflection is a professional practice where graphic designers combine visual elements and language to extract personal or collective meaning.
The exhibit runs until February 9, 2024 at Slocumb Galleries with reception and gallery talk on February 8, Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
