MIGRACION: LANTINX EXHIBITION

Tipton Gallery (ETSU) / 126 Spring St. , Johnson City, TN August 2 - September 20th (Reception: August 2 6:00pm - 8:00pm)

ETSU Tipton & Slocumb Galleries announces the upcoming exhibition titled Migracion: Latinx Exhibition, featuring works by Tennessee and Kansas-based Latinx artists.

Curated by ETSU alumna and KCKCC gallery director Shai perry, the works explore themes of movement, identity, and cultural heritage, Migracion showcases the diverse perspectives of Latinx artists through a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media installations. This exhibition not only celebrates artistic expression but also aims to provoke thoughtful discussions on the Latinx experience in today's globalized world.

Migracion at Tipton Gallery provides a platform for Latinx artists to share their narratives, with work that distinctly narrate individual and communal journeys of resilience, and the richness of Latin American culture.

The Tipton Gallery, located at 126 Spring Street, Johnson City, TN, serves as a dynamic space for contemporary art exhibitions and community engagement. This exhibition is part of ETSU Tipton & Slocumb Galleries’ ongoing commitment to showcasing diverse artistic voices and fostering cultural exchange and BIPOC visibility within the region.

Art enthusiasts, community members, and supporters of the arts are invited to attend the opening reception on August 2 to meet the artists and engage with their compelling works. Admission to the reception and exhibition is free and open to the public. ETSU Tipton & Slocumb Galleries’ diversity programming is supported by the Tennessee Arts Commission’s Arts Project Support grant, East Tennessee Foundation’s Arts Fund and ETSU Student Life & Enrollment through SAAC.
