Joint reception with Barro Santo: Pepe y Jose Calabres with guests of honor Washington County Commissioner Jodi Polaha Jones and Dr. Leah Adinolfi, ETSU Dean of Engagements.

Impresion De Cultura is an exhibition of contemporary Latina/o/x artists utilizing traditional and modern printmaking techniques. Each individual piece of art represents the artist's personal history and identity. Diving into topics such as duality when the artist grew up in two cultures and having a feeling of detachment from one, or culture and memories where the artist pulls symbolism from rituals, heritage and history to tell a story.

The show is a series of interconnected prints each representing the artist themselves and the impression our culture has left on them. The print creates a moment between the art and the viewer with shared experiences between communities that have never met. The exhibit will showcase multiple and innovative printmaking techniques like lithograph, etching, screen print, relief, intaglio, woodcut, mokuhanga and others, all rooted in traditional storytelling.

The Impresion de Cultura exhibition is funded by the ETSU Student Academic Activities Committee (SAAC), Mary B. Martin School of the Arts, Bravissima! Women Sponsoring the Arts and the Tennessee Arts Commission. The Tipton-Ashe Galleries are located at the Courthouse on Walnut side, 401 Ashe Street., Downtown Johnson City. Gallery hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11am to 3pm and Thursdays and Fridays 5 o 7 pm, extended hours during receptions and by appointments.
