Hatch Show Print’s Haley Gallery / 222 Rep. John Lewis Way S. May 21 - June 30th

Tim Biskup

Drifting Agency, an exhibition of graphite drawings by Southern California artist Tim Biskup, opens Thursday, May 21, at Haley Gallery with a reception, free and open to the public.

Tim Biskup is a Southern California artist whose practice is focused mainly on abstract and figurative painting and drawing, but extends into sculpture, printmaking, and music. He studied fine art at Otis-Parsons before entering the animation and illustration industries, where he honed his technical skills. In 1999 he gathered a community of artists and began hosting live art auctions at bars around Los Angeles and quickly found an audience for his personal work.

Around 2009 he began experimenting with a graphite drawing technique he has come to refer to as “Graphite Memory.” Videos of this technique have garnered hundreds of millions of views on social media and culminated in a series of live drawing events, including a session at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles in February of 2025.

In February of 2017 he opened a small art gallery space called Face Guts in Los Angeles, California, which has recently expanded to include an art/lifestyle shop called Home Guts located next door to the gallery. Biskup’s mid-career retrospective monograph/autobiography Tree of Life was published by Chronicle Chroma in 2019.
