Zoe Nichols

Recent fine art alum of Belmont University Zoe Nichols, with the generous support of the Walter and Sarah Knestrick Award, has deepened her ongoing investigation into absence and light through an immersive personal experiment: 88 consecutive hours spent in total darkness. This exhibition reflects on this subtractive experience as a meditation on mortality, memory, and absence. Using biochar sculpture and installation, Nichols creates a space where absence becomes material, and the boundaries between internal and external become blurred.
