HEATHER HARTMAN: SPARE ROOM

Channel To Channel / 507A Hagan St. September 7, 2019 - October 19, 2019

Heather Hartman

Channel To Channel is pleased to present, Spare Room, a solo-show of new mixed media paintings by Heather Hartman.

Hartman’s work combines paper softly appearing behind polyester mesh to create the illusion of light glowing through the periphery of life. Her interests lie in capturing the soft, diffused glow of the Tennessee atmosphere.

Hartman debuted in Nashville in 2016 at Channel To Channel. She is an Assistant Professor of Art at Carson-Newman University. She attended Auburn University and graduated with her MFA at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She has been included in New American Paintings, 28th Annual McNeese Works on Paper National Exhibition, where she received a Juror’s Mention Award. Collections include Fidelity Investments, 21C Museum Hotels, and the collection of Auburn University.

"When I look at one of Heather Hartman’s paintings, I think of sun filtering through summer-green leaves, or rippling through the eddies of a stream. Hartman thinks of them as landscapes, although none of them show land—or leaves, for that matter. Or a stream." — Heather S. Duncan, Knoxville Mercury
