SOPHIA EISENBART: 1 LESS SECRET

ESPS: East Side Project Space / 507 Hagan St. May 6, 2017 - May 30, 2017

Sophia Eisenbart

Gallery Luperca and East Side Project Space present 1 Less Secret, the first solo exhibition from recent APSU grad Sophia Eisenbart. The opening reception will be on May 6 from 6-9 PM in conjunction with the Arts and Music at Wedgewood Houston Art Crawl.

Eisenbart is a multi-media artist, working in assemblage, paint, and digital formats. This body of work evolved from tiny collages, made from collected scraps of fabric, paper, and found objects into massively enlarged digital scans before making their latest transformation into large-scale acrylic paintings. Her work is inspired by a fascination with small objects and images and a love for illustrations and comics.

From the artist: “This recent work is about communicating sometimes philosophical, social, or personal issues hidden in secret messages. The imagery is optimistic and colorfully bouyant, distracting the viewer from the more serious subject subdued in the painting. I have given each painting lighthearted characteristics, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation.”

1 Less Secret runs through May 30, with a special event planned WeHo Arts District-wide on May 18. Gallery hours are 2-8pm Tuesday-Thursday, 11-3pm Saturday, and 4-7 on Sundays. Please contact info@galleryluperca.com or 615-669-1384 for more information or to make an appointment.
