Sepideh T. Dashti

COOP is pleased to present We-Feeling by Memphis based artist, Sepideh T. Dashti. Dashti’s art serves as a vehicle for rediscovering, reinventing, and reinterpreting her cultural identity, becoming a pivotal point in her exploration of diverse and heterogeneous contexts. She appropriates dominant philosophies and technologies, interweaving them with her lived experiences and marginal materials to create artwork.

The works in this exhibition span across time and media and they delve into the intricate and multifaceted gender and race-based challenges experienced by an Iranian immigrant woman.

More about the Artist
Sepideh T. Dashti is an emerging Iranian interdisciplinary artist, researcher, and educator who studied art in Canada and now lives in Memphis, TN. Her work explores visceral experiences shaped by intersecting oppressions, patriarchy, sexism, and racism, affecting marginalized female bodies. She analyzes class, gender, race, and identity through a diasporic, intersectional feminist lens, creating installations that blend performance, video, sculpture, textiles, and electronics to reflect the complexities of diasporic emotions rooted in personal yet universal narratives. Drawing from lived experiences and ethnographic studies, she weaves intimate stories into broader socio-political contexts.
