Nick Peña

The Department of Art and Design is pleased to announce an exhibition of work by Nick Peña, a visual artist living and working in Memphis, TN. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He studied abroad at the Hospitalfield House in Arbroath, Angus, Scotland, and received his Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.

Currently, Peña is an associate professor of art in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, TN. Peña has had six solo exhibitions in the last five years, and has participated in twenty National and Juried exhibitions since 2007. His 21st exhibition is scheduled for January 2019.

His exhibit, Sectional Views: One Nation Under..., is scheduled to open Saturday, October 27, 2018. On display in the Todd Art Gallery will be sixteen works from his series Crosscut and The Way of The World, as well as several miscellaneous pieces not yet publicly on display.

Starting at 1:00 in Todd Hall, room 117 there will be a workshop, Watercolor Basics, led by Sisavanh Houghton. Participants should bring in some photographs to work from, watercolor paper, brushes, and a simple watercolor set. At 3:00, immediately following the workshop, there will be an opening reception for the exhibit in the Gallery.
