RUTH CHASE: ECSTATIC

Frothy Monkey / 125 5th St., Franklin , TN February 16 - March 30th (Reception: February 16 4:00pm - 6:00pm)

Ruth Chase

Ruth Chase presents Ecstatic, a solo exhibition of paintings and video, from February 16 to March 30, 2025. The opening reception will be held Sunday, February 16 from 4 to 6 PM at Frothy Monkey, 125 5th Ave South, Franklin, TN. Open daily from 7 AM to 8 PM.

Ecstatic delves into the quantum and electromagnetic fields that shape our environment, exploring the invisible forces that influence our daily lives. Drawing on her sensitivity to subtle energy currents—like the moon’s pull, moving water, and both native and non-native fields such as Wi-Fi and LED light—Chase’s paintings express the experience of navigating a world where these fields are both a challenge and a superpower. Her work reflects the complex reality of living between natural and man-made environments, where these unseen forces affect our health, mood, and perception of reality, portraying both the struggle and empowerment of engaging with these energies. Using up to 40 layers of thin washes, Chase creates rich, textured surfaces, with hard lines outlining forms that represent these electromagnetic forces, often undetectable to the naked eye.

Based in Hendersonville, TN, Ruth Chase is a multimedia artist and San Francisco Art Institute graduate. She has received multiple accolades, including a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles and four grants for public engagement. Her work has been shown in venues like the Crocker Kingsley and Diego Rivera Gallery, and her film Belonging has been featured at major film festivals.
