Ground Floor Gallery + Studios / 942 4th Ave. S. April 1, 2017 - April 28, 2017
Ground Floor Gallery is pleased to present Otherworldliness, a juried exhibition curated by Austin Thomas, and featuring the works of emerging and under-recognized artists from Nashville and beyond. The exhibition opens with a curator’s talk at 6pm on April 1, given by Austin. “Best of Show” will be awarded a solo show.
“This exhibition presents examples of many typologies with an emphasis on artists from Nashville as well as from other parts Tennessee (and around the US) with photography, painting, printmaking and sculpture. All the choices I made are very painterly with a focus on otherworldliness. There’s a painterly vibe. Some works are almost divine. And the overall choices are not devoid of political content. Whether, painterly or politically-titled, as in the case of Robert Fields, all of the participating artists are present in the timeless inner territory that is of the artist where one attempts to build upon understanding and knowledge.” - Austin Thomas
