LANIE GANNON: FLOWERS FOR A QUEENY (A ROYAL PORTRAIT)
Zeitgeist Gallery / 516 Hagan St., #100 May 1 - June 26th
Zeitgeist is pleased to welcome Nashville based artist, Lanie Gannon with her new show, flowers for a queeny (a royal portrait). A long time sculptor, working with wood, with this show, Gannon transitions to creating her playful and colorful forms from cut paper.
She brings a sculptor's eye to the new medium, "A pair of scissors is a drawing tool. Cutting a line, like a road map on the surface of paper releases shapes that can be fastened, linked and connected into a structure that becomes a foundation on which to build. Paper lends itself to improvisation; it can be so delicate that it retains the imprint of memory, and so strong and versatile its materiality exists in a place between fabric and wood."
