Julia Martin celebrates 9 years of JMG this Saturday at the opening of her solo show, BRING THE LIGHT. Martin’s presence in the Nashville art community as a fine artist, gallerist, mentor and muralist has helped foster creativity throughout the city, and the city continues to return the favor in kind - with this new body of work made entirely on-site in the formal gallery, blurring the lines between studio and curatorial space. Color bursts from the canvases, with hints of neon as a new addition to Martin’s palate. Returning to drawings from quarantine, Julia has reflected on and repurposed pieces into her new show, incorporating collage elements from previous works. From the workspace, to the canvas, to the vintage frames she chose with care for each piece, Martin taps into a thoughtfully crafted, more vibrant space for her 2022-23 solo.
