COOP Gallery is pleased to present Infinite Views, by Matthew Willie Garcia. Infinite Views is a series of works that strives to explore the ineffable qualities of the universe and what it means to be intrinsically tied to every aspect of existence. The exhibition draws from ideas of quantum mechanics, cosmology, and astrophysics to speculate about our place in the universe. Garcia uses Mokuhanga, Japanese woodblock printing, to ask questions of the universe that might not have straightforward answers. Infinite Views is a nod to Katsushika Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series and an acknowledgement that there are an endless amount of questions to be asked and grappled with about all aspects of existence and our universe. The exhibition is Garcia’s first in Nashville, and the artist will be present at the opening reception to present a demonstration of his Japanese Woodcut techniques, Mokuhanga, at the beginning of the opening.
