IF I SEES YOU

WAG (Watkins Art Gallery) / 507 Hagan St. April 7, 2018 - April 30, 2018

Tristan Higginbotham

No-one with a pigeon in their hand can see every quality of the pigeon by looking into its eye. That is a fantasy.

If I Sees You is a collection of work relying on resonance and the potential of growth. Taking mimetic translations of bird calls as its conceptual starting point, objects shift between awkward representation and poetic gestures. This compilation of sculpture and drawings rely on interactions of material and play with neighboring works; narratives and experiences have the ability to exist in this way too, with the precarity of changing, ever-growing contexts resulting in a kind of communal property.
