COOP Gallery is pleased to present Hum Dance Collective's Residency during the month of July.
Hum Dance Collective is a group of creative movement artists spanning different backgrounds and locations who come together to produce meaningful, meditative shows. For the month of July, Hum will be the resident company at COOP Gallery, creating movement installation works and hosting classes within the gallery space. Their first event will be two nights of music, visual art, and improvisational dance on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9 as a part of the Wedgewood Houston Art Crawl.
Later in the month, Hannah McCarthy will premiere her work STATIC (where I was when I wasn’t there) on Wednesday, July 27 with excerpts to be featured in the Kindling Arts Festival. The collective also plans to host community classes for all people interested in movement. The exact dates and times of the classes will be announced on Hum’s and COOP’s social media and email lists.
Hum Dance Collective features creatives from across different backgrounds and locations who come together to produce meaningful, meditative shows meant to create time and space for reflection, for growth, for transcendence. Hum’s hive of dancers is Trevor Edwards, Emily Denham, Hannah McCarthy, Tori Beck, Mimi Burrow, Bernadette Turnage, and there is an ongoing open call for collaborators.
