MICAYLA COCHRAN: HIDDEN WORLDS
E. Bronson Ingram Studio Arts Center (Vanderbilt University) / 1204 25th Avenue S. January 18, 2022 - January 31, 2022
Micayla Cochran
Hidden Worlds is a solo exhibition from Micayla Cochran, a senior student at Vanderbilt University, double majoring in Ecology, Evolution, & Organismal Biology and Spanish. She will graduate from Vanderbilt University in May 2022.
This exhibition invites viewers to think creatively about what can lie beyond what is clearly visible. Highlighting the diversity of wildlife thriving in natural areas around Memphis and Nashville, the work complements Cochran’s Honors Thesis using trail cameras to study the activity patterns of mammals.
Consisting of 16in. x 20in. and 8in. x 10in. archival inket photographs and mixed media pieces, Cochran illustrates the animal worlds through trail camera captures ad hand drawn illustrations.
Hidden Worlds is Cochran’s Immersion Project and was partly funded by Immersion Vanderbilt. Her Immersion Mentor in Art was Vesna Pavlović. The exhibition is on view in the Student Gallery located in the E. Bronson Ingram Studio Arts Center on the Vanderbilt University campus.
