COOP Gallery is pleased to present Genesis, a group exhibition by Nashville-based artists Samuel Dunson, Brandon Donahue, and Marlos E’van. For the show at COOP, each artist works with the combination of painting, sculpture, and installation that represent ideas or objects that have a past but have been recycled and afforded a new beginning.

Sam Dunson’s recent work challenges the latest events of racism, politics, and gun violence through narrative and text that often tell stories linking the past and present. The meticulously arranged basketball blooms of Brandon Donahue explore the life of each basketball in the context of the mundane object. Through the use of recycled materials and media ranging from ceramics to crayon, Marlos E’van’s raw depiction and confrontation of black male experience often presents images that confront the tension between perception and reality.
