EMILY LEONARD: HEM
David Lusk Gallery Nashville / 516 Hagan St., #100 June 29 - July 31st
Emily Leonard's dense moments of movement and lavish intricacies walk a fine line between abstraction and representation. Her signature pastel hues generate a delicate balance of light and dark, transparent and opaque. Each layer plays a role in Leonard's refined ritual of slowly breaking down the literal representation of her subject. The works in Hem develop through an intuitive process of layering transparent glazes, gestural lines and emotive brushwork. Leonard, a Nashville native, maintains studios in New Mexico and Tennessee.
