DAX VAN AALTEN: THROUGH THE WALL

Red Arrow Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Dax Van Aalten at their satellite location, East Side Project Space, on February 4th, 2017 in conjunction with Arts & Music in Wedgewood Houston. Through the Wall marks his first exhibition with Red Arrow Gallery and in Nashville. The exhibition will consist of a wall installation of 104 miniature paintings on the surface of 2 decks of playing cards and intended as one-piece, as well as a selection of larger oil paintings on panel and canvas.

Dax Van Aalten was born in Clearwater, Florida in 1973 and raised in Tennessee throughout his youth. In 2002 he moved to New York City and resided there for eleven years before settling back into the Tennessee landscape in 2013. Van Aalten works predominantly in the medium of painting, but also works with sculpture, video and photography. Although primarily self-taught, Dax hails from an artistic family and spent a number of years studying painting at MTSU under multiple professors who helped fine tune his direction. He has exhibited in solo and group shows from Los Angeles to NYC and Paris, France. Van Aalten was a Fellows in Residence at the Virginia Center for Creative Arts in 2014.

The exhibition Through the Wall will be on view at East Side Project Space from February 4th, 2017 through March 1st, 2017 with a reception for the artist on Saturday, February 4th from 6-9 pm. Red Arrow Gallery @ East Side Project Space is located at The Packing Plant, 507 Hagan St., Nashville, TN  37203.
