ZieherSmith is pleased to present CAM, an exhibition culminating the Summer Intensive at CAM: Contemporary Arts Memphis.
Join us this Saturday, Aug 23rd at 1207 South Street from 5-7 pm for a reception celebrating these talented emerging artists.
Contemporary Arts Memphis (CAM) is a nonprofit arts organization founded by Derek Fordjour that is dedicated to the growth and development of young visual artists from Memphis-Shelby County area high schools.
The Summer Intensive is a multi-week experience where CAM alumni (including college), past Fellows, and Gap Year participants cultivate a studio practice, expand their conceptual thinking, and add to a strong portfolio rooted in technical skill. By fostering an environment of exploration, technical guidance, and intellectual inquiry, the program prepares participants, and offers continuity, for the next stage of their post-secondary journey. Over the course of the program, participants will work in a structured yet experimental environment that encourages both technical growth and conceptual depth.
With a focus on studio practice, portfolio preparation, and art theory/criticism, participants will receive guidance from professional artists, engage in critical discourse, and complete one to two works. The program culminates in this final exhibition at ZieherSmith giving participants the opportunity to showcase their work and share their creative process.
EXHIBITION HOURS: Wed-Fri, 10 am - 3 pm
