Fine Arts Gallery (Vanderbilt University) / 1220 21st Ave. S November 16, 2022 - November 17, 2022

Brought to us by the Performance Art class taught by Professor and artist Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, in response to the artwork recently acquired by Vanderbilt Fine Arts gallery with a focus on the Global South.

The students' performance pays homage to artist, Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, a Cuban activist currently imprisoned for fighting Cuban government restrictions on freedom of speech. With Luis’ imprisonment and journey to freedom for himself and the people in mind, the students will question the meaning of collective shelter, collective consciousness, and the keys to our collective freedom in our present day.
