CHROMA: A CONTEMPORARY SURVEY OF AMERICAN GLASS

Fort Houston / 2020 Lindell Ave. April 6, 2019 - April 28, 2019

This April, the Gallery at Fort Houston is proud to present CHROMA: A Contemporary Survey of American Glass. Guest curated by Meredith Edmondson and Jennifer Crescuillo, CHROMA incorporates more than 20 artists and spans multiple glass disciplines - including cast, blown, sculpted, and neon.

Notably, CHROMA also marks Nashville’s first contemporary glass exhibition (with museum exception) in over ten years. Edmondson and Crescuillo, both participating artists and co-facilitators of the show, aim to emphasize the importance of the medium through a vivid exploration of its various forms. With regard to Nashville’s rapidly expanding fine arts community, CHROMA offers its audience primary exposure to a medium often precluded from the city’s visual dialogues. Edmondson and Crescuillo have, with this exhibition, shattered cultural precedent and proposed new opportunity for patrons and artists alike - a synthesis of light and heat, color and clarity - where delicacy implies strength, and purpose bends before beauty.

CHROMA will run from April 6th to April 28th, 2019. The Gallery will hold an open reception on Saturday April 6th, from 6PM to 9PM, in conjunction with the Wedgewood Houston Art Crawl. Please join us at 2020 Lindell Avenue to celebrate these incredible artists, and a turning point in Nashville’s visual landscape.
