This exhibition features 22 framed works on paper that showcase Miler's urgent, gestural approach to the margins of figuration, grounded in a mainline, fundamental understanding of abstraction. Miler has used Not Titled to name his work for over a decade. Prompted by the knowledge that Picasso rarely titled his works, Miler, who began his creative life as a poet, cherishes words as much as charcoal, ink and oil paint. He recognizes the folly in pairing words to images that stake no conceptual claim, celebrating instead the life long act of being an artist.
