Hope Kise

My practice is shaped by a deep sensitivity to material and a reverence for the rhythms of daily life and the natural world. My work emerges from a space of stillness, discipline, and sustained attention. I use organic elements and other found materials to document fleeting moments within eternal cycles. This act of preservation is a meditation on fragility and memory. I draw strong parallels within the cycles and imagery of nature. My work asks how nature exists not just outside but within: in bodies, routines, elemental timelines, and mortal materials. Among the Leaves largely consists of pieces I call “embeddings”. Each block and slab of wood contains a small piece of the earth I have collected–from animal bones and teeth to driftwood and shells–carefully nestled in carved fittings.

Hope Kise is a visual artist based in Nashville, TN. Having grown up in rural Georgia, she carries a strong connection to the earth and a deep understanding of the balance between life and nature. Kise exhibits and curates work locally and has recently earned a BFA from
Lipscomb University.
