The Black Experience: A Rebirth of Black History Month is focused on redefining the meaning of Black History Month. Although we've had a black president for 8 years, and created historical achievements and accomplishments in the black community like in the Olympics, arts, and entertainment, we still don't celebrate Black History Month beyond the use of predictable images and icons such as, Harriet Tubman, Dr. Martin Luther King (understandable), George Washington Carver, and Rosa Parks. The exhibition celebrates and shows African American history old and new. Sponsored by Caritas Village in collaboration with Orange Mound Gallery.
