PURPLE MICRODOT, YELLOW SUNSHINE

Rust Hall Alumni Gallery (Memphis College of Art) / 1930 Poplar Ave. November 23, 2016 - December 7, 2016

Thomas Everett Green

Purple Microdot, Yellow Sunshine, an exhibition by Memphis College of Art Instructor and alumnus Thomas Everett Green, will feature encaustic paintings created with aniline dye and shellac. Green’s work imbues biologic imagery, visually conjuring the movement of living cells seen only with a microscope. In this body of work, Green draws parallels from various phenomenologies that associate addiction with disease. “My experimental process paintings reflect imagery and draw inspiration from fluorescent microscopy and biology, while playing with formal aspects of color theory to generate a slightly psychedelic and wildly organic feeling on floating circular panels,” said Green.
