MARGARET COLEMAN: NURSES AND DOCTORS
Tops Gallery at Madison Avenue Park / 151 Madison Ave. June 2 - September 2nd
Margaret Coleman
Tops is pleased to present 26 drawings of Memphis healthcare workers made by Margaret Coleman in the late 1990's.
Coleman is a self taught artist whose drawings and paintings are inspired by her life experience and surroundings. She has produced distinct bodies of work depicting religious scenes informed by her faith, portraits of civil rights leaders, and images of local fashion in addition to these portraits of medical professionals.
These richly colored portraits emphasize the individuality and warmth of these nurses, doctors and technicians while more broadly representing the brave network of health care workers across the globe who offer hope to us all.
Tops has exhibited Colemans's work in the group show Tree of Life in 2019 and at the Outsider Art Fair in 2020.
