JODI BREWER, LISA WILLIAMSON & PAUL BEHNKE: LINES THAT MOVE

Marshall Arts / 639 Marshall Ave. September 6 - 27th (Reception: September 6 6:00pm - 8:00pm)

Jodi Brewer, Lisa Williamson, Paul Behnke

The exhibition highlights the ongoing dialogue between three artists who not only share a studio space, but also an evolving exchange about art and life. While each practice is distinct, the works intersect through a shared commitment to process, material, and the expressive possibilities of abstraction.

Jodi Brewer will debut a major new site-specific sculpture that continues her viscerally poetic exploration of materials. Drawing connections to the body and lived experience, Brewer’s work invokes a deeply human presence—at once fragile and resilient.

Lisa Williamson will present all-new work engendered during her recent residency in the Arctic Circle. These pieces expand on themes of environmental precarity while also channeling personal emotions of anger, loss, and reflection. Balancing the political and the personal, Williamson’s paintings serve as both witness and response to our shifting climate, both global and intimate.

Paul Behnke will exhibit his newest large-scale paintings, his first since 2023. These vibrant, expressionistic works weave together religion, history, pop culture, subconscious imagery, and dream fragments into layered visual narratives. Behnke’s canvases emerge as personal yet expansive meditations, combining the spiritual and the everyday into complex painterly communications.

Together, Brewer, Williamson, and Behnke present an exhibition that is both collaborative and singular—an articulation of individual visions bound by a shared studio environment and an in-depth, ongoing dialogue.
