KONG WEE PANG: WHO IS THAT ARTIST
Dixon Gallery and Gardens / 4339 Park Ave. January 25 - March 8th
Kong Wee Pang
Kong Wee Pang moved to the United States in 2001 from Malaysia. Her work is whimsical and depicts observed aspects of human behavior through animals, referencing the Chinese Zodiac. Her work explores themes of daydreams, family, pop culture, food and travel. She designed the wrap for the Dixon Art to Grow van and has several public art projects in Memphis. She currently works as an Associate Creative Director at the mid-south’s largest ad agency, Archer Malmo. In 2016, she co-founded Taropop Studio, focusing on public art and award-winning branding. She has shown her work in New York’s Times Square, Spain, Italy, Berlin, Atlanta, Memphis, California, and Malaysia.
Merging her dynamic aesthetic and whimsical imagination, Kong Wee created an interactive space with modular mural elements that will allow the viewer to participate in the creative process.
