JAMES WADE JR: F.I.R.E. (PATTERN + PLACE)

Metal Museum / 374 Metal Museum Dr. April 23, 2017 - June 16, 2017

James Wade, Jr.

James Wade, Jr. is the visiting artist demonstrator for the 3rd Annual Foundry Invitational and River Exhibition (F.I.R.E.), a conference for metal casting artists utilizing the Museum’s Foundry. Influenced at an early age by industrial, agrarian and vernacular landscape, James Wade explores the evidence of our presence in these areas through sculptures and drawings. Histories and observations become contemplations about the meaning of place. As a master patternmaker, Wade combines traditional techniques with hybrid fabrication processes. Digital methods of 3D printing, CNC routing and laser-cutting complement historic woodworking, modeling and alternative patternmaking practices to prepare forms for metal casting.
