GETTING TO THE SOUL OF IKEA MEMPHIS
IKEA Memphis / 7900 Ikea Way, Cordova, TN February 19 - 20th
Brandon Marshall
The UrbanArt Commission (UAC) in collaboration with IKEA Memphis is proud to invite the community to a landmark event, Getting to the Soul of IKEA Memphis, on Monday, February 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This celebration is a tribute to the vibrant culture, community, history, and diversity that define Memphis, highlighting local music, art, and innovative spaces within IKEA Memphis.
Unveiling TILLSAMMANS: A Mural by Brandon Marshall
In a significant highlight of the evening, UAC and IKEA Memphis will unveil TILLSAMMANS, a new mural by celebrated artist Brandon Marshall. This artwork represents a fusion of Memphis's rich cultural heritage and IKEA's Swedish roots, aiming to create a unique and visually exciting welcome for visitors. TILLSAMMANS stands as a testament to the power of art in bridging communities and cultures, embodying the spirit of togetherness and innovation.
A Celebration of Memphis Music and Community Initiatives
The event will feature a model recording studio's ribbon-cutting, inspired by Royal Studios, by Boo Mitchell and the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce. This space is a nod to Memphis's unparalleled musical legacy and IKEA's commitment to fostering creative expressions. Adding to the musical ambiance, Tonya Dyson will DJ, carrying forward Memphis's musical legacy while infusing it with the contemporary sounds of Neosoulville. This musical journey complements the evening's celebration of Memphis's artistic and cultural contributions.
Furthermore, the event will spotlight the impactful work of Hospitality Hub, including their Hub Studio project, which provides safe and temporary shelter for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, underscoring the community's collaborative efforts towards positive social impact.
