The University of Memphis and Isaiah Kennedy are proud to present Digital Dixie, Dissonance and Contradictions, a MFA thesis exhibition. This show is the capstone on Kennedy's MFA degree in painting. The exhibition grapples with what it means to be Southern in contemporary times. The work pits the idea of Dixie, the old monolithic that was the South , versus the multifaceted and amorphous South that we know today. These ideas are wrestled through paintings, drawings, installations, ceramics, video games, and sculptures. Reoccurring motifs of minotaurs, pokemon, quilts, and jugs ask questions of plural and multiculturally informed Southern experience.
