In Assessments, the artists bring their singular interpretations of the series events that took place in 2020. The artists’ exhibition statement says: “With the instability of our government and political system, a pandemic that infected millions around the world and killed more than 500,000 in the U.S., and the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor bringing to light acts of police violence and systemic racism, we felt as artists it is our responsibility to use our art to make a visual statement. Assessments is also about how we as artists have dealt with being quarantined, working in isolation, dealing with cancelled exhibitions, and rethinking our art making process while watching the world change around us. The collaboration reflects how our work responds to the human condition of two cultures, two stories, and two narratives.”
