Pieces inspired by the artisan traditions and tropical nature of the Pacific and Caribbean regions of Colombia shine in this 2017 Memphis in May exhibition of works by renowned Colombian silversmith Alexandra Agudelo. Agudelo creates an ideal harmony in her work through the interplay of the perfection of her handcrafted silversmith work and the imperfection inspired by Columbian nature represented by irregular borders, shadows and textures of each piece. Her pieces are characterized by the dichotomy between the rigidity and the malleability of the silver with which she works. The award-winning sculptor has exhibited in galleries around the globe.
