WHAT WAS, WHAT IS, WHAT WILL BE

Gallery 1010 (UTK) / 100 S Gay St. February 7 - 8th (Reception: February 7 5:00pm - 9:00pm)

Iris Love, Julia Johnson, Lili Call

This exhibition is an exploration into the history of the past, our physical forms of the present, and a future of new growth. Together our three distinct, unique, and individual series come together to form one interconnected cycle. The first part of the cycle What Was focuses on the legend and history of the past of Appalachia, and the ghosts left behind of the past. What Is focuses on the exploration of self and our physical forms through abstract figuration of the body. The final part of the cycle What Will Be is represented through the growth of new life in floral elements using fabric, canvas, and acrylic paint. These works are all united through the exploration and expression of a living existence in the world.
