SUMMER INSTRUCTORS EXHIBITION

Arrowmont Gallery / 110 S. Gay St. June 5 - 27th (Reception: June 5 5:00pm - 9:00pm)

Carin Jones, Huey Lee, Keun Ho Peter Park, Josie Love Roebuck

For over 114 years, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts has been a place of learning, creativity, and artistic exchange nestled in the Smoky Mountains. What began as a settlement school focused on general education soon expanded to include mountain handicrafts, preserving regional traditions while creating opportunities for local makers and craftspeople.

In 1945, during a national revival of craft education, Arrowmont launched its signature summer workshop program, welcoming students from across the country to study art and craft on campus. Today, that legacy continues through more than 150 workshops each year, led by nationally and internationally recognized artists, makers, and university faculty. Across a wide range of media, concepts, and techniques, instructors come to Arrowmont to share knowledge, encourage experimentation, and foster creative community.

Each summer, the Arrowmont Gallery highlights a select group of workshop instructors, offering Knoxville audiences a glimpse into the breadth of talent teaching on campus. The artists featured in this exhibition showcase the diversity of contemporary practices across a variety of mediums:

✷ Carin Jones — teaching “Think Outside the Gemstone: Unlocking Possibilities with Non-Traditional Materials,” July 19–24
✷ Huey Lee — teaching “Pulled Reliefs on a Vessel,” July 26–31
✷ Keun Ho Peter Park — teaching “Sculptural Segmented Power-Carving,” August 9–14
✷ Josie Love Roebuck — teaching “Threads, Patterns, and Textures: Stitching Stories Together,” May 31–June 5

Together, their work embodies Arrowmont’s mission to enrich lives through art and craft.

The Arrowmont Gallery is located at 110 S. Gay St. in Knoxville, TN, open Wednesday & Thursday 10-5, Friday 2-7, and Saturday 10-5.
