Sara Douglas

Paintings by Sara Riley Douglas: Room With a View

Sara Douglas's work has mainly focused on ideas of loss, the inner self and dealing with domestic spaces and/or objects while working with traditional representational gouache painting techniques. Her last two shows "Wish you were here" and "Ghosts" were observing the spaces and objects she feels most vulnerable with during times of chaos and sexuality. "Room with a View" will be a show presenting ideas on looking out and observing the "bigger picture" allowing the romantic landscape of the Smoky Mountains to express the sensitive quiet places, forgotten, alone, and pushed in the world of the unknown. The dreamlike state when we project on the world a "reality" or "observation" of what is really happening around us. Think crying during a sunset while pulling into a Wendy's jamming out to "No scrubs" by TLC.
