QUYNH NGUYEN: EMME

Gallery 1010 (UTK) / 1150 McCalla Ave. October 11, 2019 - October 13, 2019

Quynh Nguyen

The works at this exhibition acknowledge the role of women in different times and contexts of history, understanding the struggles in their daily lives, and honoring the great contributions of females to society. The medium for all the paintings will be oil paint; however, it will be different for each painting by using different techniques like glazing and layering lot of thin oil paint in a long process. There will also be some places that the paint application will be a little thicker to create different textures and add a three-dimensional affect. The use of color centers on the combination of bold and strong color to show the characteristics of the main character. The exhibition will drive the audience through all the stages of a woman life: when they are teenagers, they begin dating, and when they become a wife. These are the three important stages in women's lives that show the most beautiful time of their life, how they grow up, and the transformation from a little girl to a woman.
