LEGACY INSTRUCTORS EXHIBITION

Arrowmont Gallery / 110 S. Gay St. July 3 - August 1st (Reception: July 3 5:00pm - 9:00pm)

Allie Dudley, Jan Quarles, Kim Winkle

Offered twice annually, Arrowmont Legacy workshops offer educators, administrators, and youth arts organizers the opportunity to learn traditional arts & crafts during an immersive 1-week or weekend, onsite experience. In addition to artistic application, educators will learn how traditional craft relates to teaching other subjects, enhancing the learning experience for their own students.

Participants may choose from workshops in a wide range of media, based on their interests and artistic experience. The sessions are designed so that students have time to interact, share ideas, and build a supportive network. Additional evening programming and demonstrations are scheduled during the workshops so that participants can learn about Appalachian arts and ways to infuse it into their classroom or organization.

The Legacy program is free to admitted teacher-students from qualifying counties, with the full scholarship including tuition, lodging, meals, and a completion stipend.

This exhibition features work by three summer Legacy instructors, teaching various workshops throughout our summer session from July 12-17:

➞ Allie Dudley – teaching “Carve and Weave: Handmade Tools for Fiber Art” with Nikki Reese
➞ Jan Quarles – teaching “Botanical Printing: Leaves and Natural Colors on Fabrics”
➞ Kimberly Winkle – teaching “Woodturning FUNdamentals”

Together, their work embodies Arrowmont’s mission to enrich lives through art and craft. Want to learn more about our Legacy program? Visit the “Opportunities” tab on our website at arrowmont.org
