LAURA CLEARY WILLIAMS: BEYOND THE VEIL
Tri-Star Arts / 4450 Candora Ave., Candoro Marble Building July 18th (Reception: July 18 12:00pm - 4:00pm)
Laura Cleary Williams
Tri-Star Arts is pleased to present a site responsive pop-up exhibition titled Beyond the Veil by Laura Cleary Williams (Chattanooga, TN) in the carriage house at the historic Candoro Marble Building on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 12:00 until 4:00 pm, artist in attendance, one day only.
Of her work, Williams states, "My practice moves across drawing, embroidery, and textile installation to trace the threshold between presence and absence, locating in fragile marks and suspended materials the sensation of memory in motion. Working in graphite, silk tulle, and thread, I draw not across surfaces but into space itself, constructing embroidered installations that function as ghost drawings: light-sensitive, barely legible, and always shifting. My pencil works offer a quieter counterpart, dense constellations of marks that map feeling as much as form. Together, these bodies of work propose drawing as an embodied language, slow and searching, for what cannot be said but insists on being felt."
Laura Cleary Williams (b. 1986) is a Chattanooga-based multidisciplinary artist working in drawing, embroidery, and textile installation to explore the emotional and embodied language of mark-making. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including Kai Lin Gallery (Atlanta), Warnes Contemporary (Brooklyn), Equity Gallery (New York), and Teufelhof Basel (Switzerland), and has appeared in New Visionary, Studio Visit Magazine, and Suboart, among others. Recent solo exhibitions include Beyond the Veil: Memories of Space and Time at Wavelength (Chattanooga, 2025) and The Auras I See at Good Art Co (Greenville, 2023). Williams holds an MFA in Printmaking from SCAD-Atlanta and a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, and has studied at the New York Crit Club through the Canopy program. She is a 2025 Stove Works artist-in-residence and a 2026 Virginia Center for Creative Arts artist-in-residence.
