SARAH REDDING: FROG IN MY THROAT
Gallery 1010 (UTK) / 100 S. Gay St. January 30 - 31st (Reception: January 30 2:00am - 2:00am)
Sarah Redding
The exhibition’s concept revolves around the frog characters in my paintings. These frogs inhabit domestic settings and participate in everyday tasks like putting on makeup, washing dishes, or enjoying a beach day. Their simple actions, paired with their slightly awkward yet endearing demeanor, communicate a sense of emotional relatability. The frogs become stand-ins for the small moments that make up our daily lives, offering the audience a humorous but sincere way to feel seen. My intention is for the exhibition to evoke a warmth that mirrors the tenderness within the paintings themselves. I want people to step into the gallery and feel as though they’ve entered the frogs’ world. It’s a familiar, lived-in space where routines unfold gently and the mood remains lighthearted. Ultimately, this exhibition invites viewers to find comfort in these amphibian characters and to recognize themselves within the humorous, everyday scenarios they inhabit.
