CYNTHIA MARKERT

Rala / 112 W. Jackson Ave. April 5 - 30th

Cynthia Markert

Cynthia Markert has been painting images of women for over thirty years. She draws inspiration from archetypal figures such as "The Flapper" and "The New Woman", as well as from personal life experiences. She started painting on wood in the 90s while attending UTK for studio art and Women’s studies. Cynthia has a backstory for every painting- every figure has a character and story. She has work in the archive of the National Museum of Women in the Arts in D.C. A fun fact is that she signs all her work with a backwards signature. Join us in the Old City for the opening of the show. For more information, visit our website or keep up with us on our socials.
