"My work is trying to be sincere in this world, despite not knowing anything about itself. I’ve decided that sincerity is my goal. These works show the merging of appropriated images, my own photograph references, experiments with artificial textures and abstractions, as well as some play with collaging, all in order to create art that I feel is sincere. The painting’s deconstruction of the figure allows the viewer easy entry points without veering too close to heavy-handed didacticism." - Andy Gordon
