Portrait of Self: Identity, Reflection, and Place is a group show of work by University of Tennessee at Martin art students that focuses on the genre of the self-portrait. Through the work in this exhibit, themes such as identity, self-reflection, and location, specifically as it connects to identity, are explored. Through traditional mediums such as drawing and painting, the show reflects a variety of ideas and interpretations of how artists see themselves, and how the genre of the self-portrait can visually unlock deeper conceptual dialogues that escape the traditional limitations of mere depiction.
