The 5th Annual Guitar as Art art show and competition is the featured arts event of the Tennessee Soybean Festival. The exhibition features painted and altered guitars from 30 different artists. A $500 purchase prize will be given to the guitar deemed best of show by the juror. This guitar will also be featured in select advertising for next year’s TN Soybean Festival. An additional thematic prize of $250 will be awarded. This year’s theme is “25 Years of Bean Magic”. A people’s choice award will be given to one artist as well.
This year's juror is Carl Moore. Carl Moore is a Memphis based artist and designer. He received his BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA from the Memphis College of Art. His work is described as a form of visual communication using simplicity and depth to express current, social and economic conditions.
