In the artist's words:

"My work asks questions relating to impermanence and identity by conjuring up a space that lives in-between what is real, perceived and natural. I am interested in facilitating work to “occur” and setting up the parameters for shapes and forms to emerge. I think of painting as a process of whittling away information to uncover a hidden language, an undiscovered network of symbols and coordinates. I think of my work as a series of “Russian-nesting dolls” in which some shape, form or physical work is informed by, or physically created from, another fragment or piece of another work, and that new – or altered shape – informs another work or fragment, and so on. The work becomes literally and physically interconnected, in hopes of leaving the viewer with an altered sense of placement and perception. By creating multiples and variations of the same form, sometimes until the image actually dissipates, I am exploring how meaning and identity are assigned and constructed, and how malleable those so-called constants actually are. I’ve been thinking more and more lately about uncovering an in-between state that is neither here nor there, something that is filled with potential and is in a transitional state, or supposed transition. It’s shifting, it’s in flux, and I just happen to be in the exact particular moment to capture the experience and image. I think of this space an as “other” space between realities – physical, virtual, digital. I’m also questioning if there is a queerness embedded into the work and what that inherent queerness may or may not say in relation to one’s sense of self, location and space."
