KEVIN MCNAMEE-TWEED: WHEN THE WORLD'S ON FIRE
Institute of Contemporary Art (UTC) / 752 Vine St. August 24 - October 21st
Kevin made all new works for this show! They are scaled for your eye and hand, and will be a visual delight! Don’t miss it, and the chance to meet him, Thursday 6-9pm.
When the World's on Fire takes its name from the traditional Southern song reckoning with the notion of End Times. And, linking with the artist’s focus on regional ceramic traditions, the title makes reference as well to the creative and destructive power of a kiln. (Also the world is literally on fire.) With both pathos and humor, Kevin’s intimately-scaled works offer glimpses of subjects from the human to the animal to the inanimate.
